What is The Foot Collective?

We’re a global tribe of Health Nerds on a mission to help humans reclaim strong, functional, and pain free bodies. Our goal is to empower people with the knowledge they need to protect their bodies from the dangers of modern life and provide simple guidance on: restoring functional, pain free, and resilient bodies starting at the feet.

In the past year, we have been asked to travel to 28 cities across 6 countries to deliver education experiences around the world.

This video highlights one of those adventures to the Red Bull High Performance Institute in Santa Monica, CA where we got the chance to teach some of the world's top athletes. 

Footwear as it currently exists is destroying our feet.

Shoe companies are in the business of making money, not of making footwear that is good for our feet. We’re spreading the truth about footwear and helping people understand the dangers of wearing cushioned, supportive and ramped footwear. Your best defense against pain or injury is knowledge and TFC's purpose is to give people the information they need to protect themselves.

Your feet are magically designed to send your brain signals about the ground below you.

When they get compressed into cushioned shoes it prevents them from sensing the ground and creates nasty upstream effects for our bodies.

Do your parts move like your parts need to move?

With so many people putting in time doing mobility work, it’s important to mention that constantly seeking more mobility is not the best approach. Mobilize for a purpose: use mobility work to open up joint mobility that’s needed to improve a position or movement, not just for the sake of doing more mobility work. Once you’ve reclaimed optimal mobility it’s pretty simple: use it or lose it.

Meet the Instructors

Nick is the founder and Lead Foot Nerd at TFC. He obtained a Masters of Physical Therapy from Western University and his current obsession is with researching every pillar of health to discover the truths that science has to offer. He now spends less time in clinic and has devoted his days to weaving together a global tribe of people on a mission to collectively solve the health crisis by inspiring and empowering the individual to take back control of their bodies.
Nick St. Louis, BSc, MPT
Mike grew up in Ottawa and completed an honours BSc in Biology at the University of Ottawa in 2010.  He then went on to graduate with a Masters of Physical Therapy at Western University in 2013. He has an extensive background in competitive hockey and soccer, and currently has a passion for strength training and human movement. His style of treatment incorporates best practices from physical therapy and a variety of other movement and strength disciplines. In addition to his manual therapy skills, his treatment emphasizes movement re-education, functional strengthening, and attaining better overall health and fitness.

Quality education on restoring your own feet and hips is hard to come by so we decided to take a stand.

Every human has 2 feet and most of those feet aren’t working like nature intended. Your feet form the foundation for your body – without a strong foundation we compensate and eventually run into problems. Most people we see with dysfunctional (not working properly) feet don’t have foot pain. They have problems upstream— 
  • low back pain
  • hip imbalances
  • hip impingement
  • knee pain 
—and most of those problems can be traced back to some degree to problems with their foundation.

We want to teach you how to independently take ownership of your body and fix issues yourself without having to constantly depend on health professionals.

What is the difference between the two courses and if I get the Seminar [2019] will it cover everything in the Workshop 1.0?

Because the Seminar [2019] is packed with 4 hours more content, it is able to cover each topic in more detail. That being said, most people do purchase both courses and have found each to be useful. A good way to decide might be to visit each course's product page and compare their summaries to know what is covered in each course. 

Do either of these courses expire?

No, these courses are yours to watch over and over and you have lifetime access!

Do you offer any CEC's or certifications for completing your courses?

Not as of right now, but it could be something we look into for the future.

Do the videos have subtitles / transcript?

Not as of right, but this is something we are working on for the future!

Who are these courses for?

We are fortunate to have a wide variety of people in all domains and phases of life who choose us as one of their sources for physical health education. Runners, powerlifters, health professionals, crossfitters, physiotherapists, beginners, pro athletes, student-athletes and everything in between all have a real need to have an optimally functioning body. It is our goal to be able to provide the foundation for that to be possible.
